Wooden Kondapalli Toys

Kondapalli toys are traditional wooden toys made in the town of Kondapalli in Andhra Pradesh, India. The toys are made from locally available light-weight softwood called Tella Poniki, which is cut into thin strips and then shaped into various figures. The figures are then painted with vegetable dyes and lacquered with natural gum. The toys are usually brightly colored and depict scenes from everyday life, such as farmers, dancers, and animals.
