Repair simply involves pulling the impacted system back to the original position and replacing the sacrificial energy absorbing cartridges. Quad Guard II system consists of energy absorbing cartridges surrounded by a frame work of steel quad-beam guardrail, which can telescope rearward during head-on impacts. Quad Guard system successfully passed NCHRP 350, TL3 tests with both the light car and pickup trucks at speed upto 100 km/h. Quad Guard II system is designed & constructed so there is no solid debris from the system which can create a hazard o the road way after either head-on or side angle design impact.
The Design of the Quad Guard II does an excellent job of minimizing debris affecting other vehicles in the roadways. During head-on impacts, the Quad Guard systems telescopes rearward and crushes the cartridges to absorb the energy impact. When impacted from the side, the Quad Guard system redirects the errant vehicle back toward its original travel path without allowing gating. Quad-beam panels provide 30% higher beam strength than thrie beam panels. The Monorail base eliminates the need for chains & cables providing excellent re-directive capability. The self supporting nose means no legs to complicate installation and maintenance. Replaceable cartridge contains impact debris, avoiding loose parts that may cause secondary accidents.
The Quad Guard family also includes systems to meet Europe’s EN-1317-3 criteria and the latest MASH criteria.
