The solar energy is captured by solar panels which converts it into DC electrical energy The inverter converts this DC energy in usable format of AC energy required for all types of loads In the Grid tied system solar power and the electricity board (like MSEDCL) power also called as Grid are "mixed" together and supplied to load The solar energy gets priority for supply and is used up totally Requirement of more energy Is fulfilled by the grid supply If the solar energy is not used up completely by the load it is "fed back" to the grid The grid acts as solar energy store When the load Increases and wants more energy this "stored" energy Is again taken back from the grid along with more grid energy as required by load Thus user is "reimbursed" for the solar energy stored in the grid This method is caved "Net metering" The government has started allowing net metering very recently making solar energy cheap for usage Only the net amount of electricity consumed by the user, after deducting solar energy generated from the total energy consumed is required to be paid by the user This grid tied solar power generation method eliminates requirement of batteries This makes the system very economical and extremely robust and can last for about 25 years without major trouble This system is typically installed on terrace and hence called as rooftop solar power plant It can range from a capacity of 1 Kilowatt to 1 Megawatt (1000 Kilowatt)
