Wire Torsion Test Machine by Testing Machines & Tools Company

The Wire torsion machine determines the number of twists required to fracture   the wire sample.  The  machine  generates  an  output  of  30  and  60  rpm  with  the  help  of gear  box  connected  with  a  motor.  The  revolution  counter  shows  the  number  of twists and stops after the sample fails. The wire is held between a rotating and a non-rotating (Fixed) chuck which can be adjusted to a distance from 1- 500 mm in length.

Operated on 440 volts, 3 phase, AC supply.

A small circular removable hand wheel is provided at the front side of the Gear Box which is used to rotate the chuck manually.

An  arrangement  comprises  of  a  calibrated  spring  fitted  in  circular  housing  fitted  at extreme  end  of  the  tails  stock  which  applies  the  required  tensioning  force  to  the sample  through  the  horizontal  shaft  of  the  tails  stock  by  pressing  the  calibrated spring by means of a knurled headed knob. The barrel of the mechanism has been marked to give a stress of 5 to 35 kg to select the tensioning force according to the wires sample diameter.
