Universal Joint Shafts

Universal joint shafts, also known as U-joints, are used to transmit rotary motion between two points. Typically, they are shaped like an angular "U" and consist of four main components: two yokes, a series of circular cross-bars, and two nodular bearings. They are essential components of many pieces of machinery, including industrial engines, conveyor belts, and drive shafts. U-joints can be universal—able to articulate in multiple directions—or can be designed to only articulate in one direction. Universal joint shafts are designed for applications requiring consistent rotation speed and torque, even when there are slight misalignments between the two components being connected.
